Kyusyani's Transformation: A Magnet for Opportunity and Excellence

20 February 2024

The project led by the Tsavo Trust completed the construction and outfitting of a science laboratory and provided the Kyusyani Secondary school with water and solar power, within the Kamungi Conservancy in Southern Kenya.  The project has had a ripple effect far beyond the walls of the new science laboratory, with a 13.75% increase in students enrolling from local and neighbouring communities. This jump, from 160 students in 2023 to 182 in 2024, reflects a growing confidence in the school's ability to provide quality education.

A successful year for the Bike4SchoolGardens project!

12 June 2024

The project led by Cycling out of Poverty Uganda is aiming to equip 200 students (of whom 50% are girls) with a bicycle and a solar light. The project also aims to establish 5 ‘agroforestry’ school gardens, educate and train 1,500 school children in agroforestry, environment, climate change adaptations, protection of local biodiversity and nutrition.

A promissing beginning

This innovative project, led by Wild Survivors, aims to establish a women-led beekeeping and honey production enterprise to mitigate human-elephant conflict. Specific activities include extending an existing beehive fence, establishing a women's beekeeping enterprise and a permaculture garden. Six months into the project good progress has been made.

Advela’s Story

3 September 2024

The Foundation is supporting Save the Rain for the construction of 80 residential rainwater harvesting systems for families most in need in Nsengoni, Tanzania where the groundwater is undrinkable due to excessively high levels of fluoride. This is Advela’s story, recently widowed and a new mother with 5 children needs 80 liters of water a day and has no means of generating income. (Click on the photo to read more)

Technology for rural children

The one-year project led by Powering Potential in Tanzania has successfully come to an end ! Today, 796 students from Gyekrum Arusha and Upper Kitete secondary schools, in Karatu district, can access information technology and computer studies thanks to the installation of solar-powered computer labs.  (Click on the photo to read more)

Empowering young women

The three-year project equipping, supporting and empowering 30 marginalized young women (aged 16 to 25) through vocational training combined with mentoring has reached the end of the first six months since its launch in May 2024. (click on the photo to read more)

Upgrading the Nthunguni Dispensary

The Tsavo Trust (TT) is in charge of refurbishing the Nthunguni Dispensary infrastructure, in order to address structural deficiencies and disrepair within the maternity wing and the overall building. (click on the photo to read more)

Education for every child

Chance for Childhood, working with the local partner Children’s Voice led the project that is aiming to provide quality inclusive education to 1,200 out-of-school children including girls, children affected by conflict, and children with disabilities and special educational needs at schools and accelerated learning centers in North Kivu, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Sustainable development of two rural communities

The project, aiming to sustainably develop two rural communities is now in its third year of implementation.  1,700 men, women, and children  from the Ndiagne Kahone and Keur Ndiouga  communities now have access to clean, abundant, and affordable perennial water for year-round vegetable cultivation and household use.

Livelihood support for people with mental health issues

The livelihoods project commenced in July 2021, building on the community mental health work that Network for Africa (N4A) and Conforti Community Aid Children Organisation Port Loko (Conforti) have done since 2018, across Bakeloko, Kasseh and Maforki chiefdoms. The livelihoods programme is being conducted for the 9 self-help groups (SHGs).

This project aims to provide a suite of wrap-around services complimentary to Impact Network's "eSchool 360" model that will support students from early childhood to secondary school and provide them with 21st Century skills and a pathway to lifelong learning.

The Addax and Oryx Foundation has been supporting Women’s Global Education Project since 2021 for an “Education and leadership support for adolescent girls” project. During the 2022-2023 academic year, 405 high school students (345 girls and 60 boys) developed their leadership and advocacy skills.

Leveling the playing field for students

The project led by the Tsavo Trust Kyusyani Secondary school within the Kamungi Conservancy in Southern Kenya is ten months underway. On June 5, 2023 the newly constructed and fully equipped science laboratory at Kyusyani Secondary School was officially handed over to Tsavo Trust.

Access to reproductive health services

The reproductive health project led by CHASE Africa and The Maa Trust (TMT) takes place in Narok County in the Maasai Mara region of Kenya. The Talek youth friendly center (TYFC) was completed in November 2021 and is fully functional. It promotes access to youth-friendly reproductive health knowledge, information, and services.

An alternative rites of passage event

As part of the reproductive health project led by CHASE Africa and The Maa Trust (TMT), in Narok County in the Maasai Mara region of Kenya, an Alternative Rites of Passage (ARP) event was planned to educate on the dangers and harm caused by Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

Supporting female farmers in the shift to agroforestry

29 November 2022

The project led by CooP-Uganda aimed to give 100, vulnerable small-scale farmer families, the knowledge and the tools to diversify their incomes achieve independence and thrive economically. The farmers were educated, trained and assisted in the shift from subsistence farming to agroforestry but also on and on how to adapt to climate change thanks to climate mitigation agricultural techniques.
