Support for an agricultural college

Objectives:
The project aims to rehabilitate, outfit and develop the Ambatomainty agricultural college in the Alaotra Mangoro region. It will have a six-person teaching team, 90 full-board students (3 classes) and also a farming demonstration plot. The college will be an addition to the first four regional agricultural colleges, created between 2003 and 2009, which aim to train youths from rural regions as farmers. Since 2015, the college has been accommodating 35 students in a dilapidated building. The project will follow the construction works and the outfitting of the new college, as well as the progress of students from the first three classes. It aims to enable the college to gain recognition and credibility at both regional and national levels.

The NGO:

The French association FERT was launched in 1981 by agricultural professionals and people concerned with agro-food challenges in developing countries. It aims to enable farmers to ensure food security in their countries. FERT has been working in Madagascar since 1986. FIFATA was created in 1989 as a non-profit organisation. It is an umbrella organisation, federating agricultural professionals.
